A Child is Waiting

There are abused and neglected children here in Montgomery County waiting for an advocate to be a voice for them. If you or someone you know can volunteer to speak up for a child like Michael, please call (301) 340-7458 or send an e-mail to mail@casamontgomery.org

Michael* is eight years old. He came to the attention of child welfare services because of his mother’s substance abuse. There were concerns about the physical condition of the home and lack of supervision in the home. After his mother entered a substance abuse treatment program, Michael lived with relatives for a brief time. However, due to his special needs, Michael’s relatives decided they could no longer care for him. Subsequently, Michael was placed in a therapeutic foster home where he has remained for the last six months.

Unfortunately, Michael is having problems in his current foster care placement with the possibility of again having to be moved to another placement. He is in need of a CASA to help ensure that all his needs are being met and to assist with planning for Michael’s transition back to the care of his mother (or other relatives) or to the care of an alternative permanent placement that can provide the stability and consistent care that Michael so desperately needs and deserves.
